Mixed Seasons | Edition of 29 | Gysinge, Sweden
From directly above Gysinge, a road runs between two seasons - one side of the tarmac white with the first frost of winter, the other still holding the deep gold and rust of autumn, the boundary between them absolute and exact.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
Gysinge in Västmanland is one of central Sweden's oldest protected natural areas - a mixed forest reserve where the transition between seasons happens at its own pace, different tree species turning and shedding at different rates. On one particular morning in the brief window between autumn peak and the first hard frost, the road through the reserve happened to mark the exact boundary - frost on the shaded northern side, autumn colour still intact on the south-facing canopy across it. From altitude the division is total and precise, the road a single black line between two entirely different worlds.
The image works on a level that most aerial landscapes don't - the geometry is simple but the meaning is specific, and it rewards the viewer who understands what they are actually looking at. Twenty-nine prints exist of this moment.
