Stockholm Central | Stockholm, Sweden
From a helicopter above Stockholm at golden hour, the city reveals its geography all at once - Gamla Stan on its island, Riddarfjärden catching the last light, the water channels that give Stockholm its character visible from end to end in a single frame.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
Stockholm is built across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea - a geography that is almost impossible to read at ground level but becomes completely legible from altitude. This image was shot from a helicopter at golden hour, the low angle light hitting the warm ochre and terracotta facades of Södermalm and Gamla Stan at maximum intensity while the water channels between the islands reflect the early evening sky. Gamla Stan - the medieval old town on its own island - sits at the centre of the frame exactly as it has sat at the centre of the city for seven centuries.
The warm palette, the atmospheric depth and the sense of the full city spread below make this one of the most emotionally immediate images in the collection - less abstract than most of the aerial work, more directly readable as a place. It works in any interior but particularly resonates for anyone with a connection to Stockholm. At 80×120 the detail of the rooflines, waterways and landmarks becomes fully legible.
