Palms & Granite II | Seychelles
From directly above the Seychelles coastline, a coconut palm spreads over ancient pink and grey granite meeting vivid turquoise water - three entirely different textures and colours compressed into a single frame, the rock between them over 650 million years old.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
The granite of the Seychelles is some of the oldest exposed rock on earth - fragments of the ancient Gondwana supercontinent that remained above sea level as the continental plates separated and the Indian Ocean formed around them. The distinctive pink and grey colouring comes from the high feldspar content of the granitic composition, the surface weathered and etched by centuries of wave action into the layered, almost sculpted forms visible from altitude. Vivid green tropical vegetation colonises every crack and ledge, the coconut palms rooting directly into the rock with no soil visible beneath them. The turquoise of the Indian Ocean provides the third colour - clear and intense against the warm pink of the stone.
The colour range here is unusually rich for a coastal image - warm pink rock, vivid green palm and vegetation, and the specific turquoise of the Indian Ocean shallows all present simultaneously. It works in any interior that needs something with both visual complexity and tropical warmth, and pairs naturally with the other Seychelles images in the collection.
