Goblin Valley | Goblin Valley, Utah
From altitude above Goblin Valley, a vast eroded mountain catches the last light of sunset - the sky behind it shifting through colour as the formation itself burns orange and gold against the darkening desert floor.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
Goblin Valley State Park sits in the heart of Utah's San Rafael Swell, where millions of years of erosion have carved the Entrada sandstone into formations that change completely depending on the light. At sunset the low angle catches the exposed rock faces at maximum intensity - the warm orange and gold of the stone amplified by the coloured sky behind it, the shadow side of the formation going deep brown and purple. From altitude the full scale of the erosion is visible in a way that ground level never shows - the mountain reading as a single sculptural form against the open desert.
The warm sunset palette makes this one of the most inviting images in the Utah collection - less austere than the midday desert shots, more painterly in quality. It works in spaces that want colour and warmth without the intensity of a fully saturated abstract.
