Tuscany's mixed forests are a combination of evergreen holm oak, deciduous oak, chestnut and wild service tree - species that turn at different rates and to different colours, which means the canopy at the transition point between summer and autumn is never uniform. From directly above, each tree crown reads as a distinct colour patch against its neighbours - the deep blue-green of the evergreens still holding summer colour alongside the gold of the turning chestnuts and the burnt orange of the oaks beginning to drop. The result, from altitude, is something between a textile and a painting - dense, warm, entirely filling the frame.
The rich, warm palette with its mix of cool green and warm gold works in any interior where colour and texture are the priority.
