"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
Scoresbysund is the largest fjord system on earth and one of the most inaccessible. Øfjord cuts deep into its interior, flanked by walls of exposed basalt and glacial moraine that rise almost vertically from near-freezing water. The Hildur - a traditional wooden schooner - was the vessel that made this expedition possible, carrying the team into waters where no road has ever reached. From altitude, the boat reads as a white comma against an expanse of dark water and ancient rock.
The image has the quality of an old expedition photograph, but the aerial perspective gives it something no deck-level shot could - the full weight of the landscape around the vessel, and the true sense of how small a wooden boat is inside a fjord system the size of a small country.
