Schooner Hildur | Øfjord, Greenland
From altitude above Øfjord on a misty Greenland morning, the Schooner Hildur moves through water so still it holds a near-perfect reflection - the fjord walls dissolving into low cloud, the wooden hull the only hard edge in the frame.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
Øfjord cuts deep into the interior of Scoresbysund - the largest fjord system on earth - where the basalt walls rise almost vertically from the water and the stillness on calm mornings is total. The Hildur is a traditional wooden schooner that served as the base vessel for the Scoresbysund expedition, carrying the team into waters where no road has ever reached. On this particular morning the mist sat low over the fjord, softening the scale of the landscape and reducing the image to water, hull and the pale suggestion of rock behind the fog.
The muted palette - grey water, white mist, the dark wooden form of the Hildur - gives this image a quietness that sits very differently from the more graphic pieces in the collection. It works in spaces where atmosphere matters more than impact, and particularly well in larger formats where the texture of the water and the detail of the vessel become legible.
