Storm Coast | Skeleton Coast, Namibia
From directly above the Skeleton Coast, a wave breaks across the shore in a mass of white foam and deep teal water - the full force of the South Atlantic visible in a single frame, the sand beneath it barely visible through the churning surface.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
The Skeleton Coast runs along Namibia's northern Atlantic shoreline - one of the most inhospitable coastlines on earth, where the cold Benguela Current drives constant heavy surf onto a shore of shifting sand and submerged rock. The coast takes its name from the whale and seal bones that once littered the beach, and from the fate of sailors whose ships ran aground here with no hope of rescue - the desert behind the shore as impassable as the ocean in front of it. From altitude the surf zone is pure power and pattern - the dark teal of the deep water, the compressed white of the breaking wave, the churned grey-white of the foam spreading across the sand in every direction.
The near-monochrome palette of deep teal and white gives this image a graphic intensity that works in spaces where something with real visual force is the intention. It pairs naturally with Ocean Drive, the companion image from the same coastline shot from altitude looking north along the beach.
