Roads of The Desert | Dubai, UAE
From directly above Dubai's desert, a dual carriageway is losing its argument with the sand - dunes drifting across both lanes in slow organic shapes, a single white 4WD still driving the section that remains, the road markings visible beneath the encroaching desert.

"The quality of the images was greater than I could have ever hoped for. I am proud to call myself a collector of his work."
Matthew D. ·
The desert around Dubai advances on its own terms. Roads built across the Arabian sand are in permanent negotiation with the dunes - the wind deposits sand across the tarmac continuously, maintenance crews clear it, the wind deposits it again. This image captures a section of dual carriageway at a point in that cycle where the sand is winning - organic dune shapes spreading across both lanes, the white road markings partially buried, the tyre tracks of 4WDs circling in every direction on the desert floor as drivers navigate around the obstruction. One vehicle still uses the road. The aerial perspective makes the full scale of the encroachment visible in a way that ground level never shows.
The warm pale sand, the dark tarmac and the single white vehicle give this image a graphic clarity and a quiet drama - infrastructure versus geology, played out at a pace too slow to watch but instantly legible from altitude. It works in spaces that respond to strong composition and warm desert tones.
